3-Day Mount Toubkal Trek via the Azzaden Valley

The Best Way to Climb Toubkal — Through the Least-Visited and Most Beautiful Valley in the Atlas

Most climbers take the standard 2-day route to Toubkal summit. This 3-day trek gives you something much better: an extra day crossing the Azzaden Valley — one of the most isolated and visually stunning valleys in the entire High Atlas — before reaching the summit on Day 3. You will see far more, feel far less rushed, and have a genuinely exceptional trekking experience beyond the standard tourist trail.

What’s Included

  • Night 2: Toubkal Mountain Refuge (3,207m)
  • All meals from Day 1 lunch to Day 3 lunch
  • Mule support for luggage on Day 1 and Day 2
  • All permits and refuge booking fees

3-Day Toubkal Trek Itinerary

Day 1 — Marrakech → Imlil → Azzaden Valley (6–7 hours)
Drive from Marrakech to Imlil. Begin hiking and cross the Tizi n’Mzik pass (2,489m) into the Azzaden Valley below. Descend through high Berber villages to your first night’s guesthouse. This is a full and rewarding day that acclimatises you perfectly for the summit push two days later.

Day 2 — Azzaden Valley → Toubkal Refuge (5–6 hours)
Walk through the upper Azzaden Valley and climb out via a high pass to join the standard Toubkal approach trail. The views on this section are the finest of the entire trek. Arrive at the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) by early afternoon — giving you time to rest, eat well and prepare for summit day.

Day 3 — Summit Toubkal (4,167m) and Return to Marrakech
Early morning start for the summit. Reach the top of North Africa in approximately 3 hours. Descend to the refuge for a celebratory lunch, then continue all the way to Imlil. Return by vehicle to Marrakech, arriving early evening.
